Application of stainless steel plates in six major industries

Nowadays, stainless steel plates are used in all walks of life because of their good appearance and practical performance. As a kind of steel material, stainless steel plates have different applications in different industries. What role does it play in various industries? Here are six industry fields that list the application of this product.

  1. Environmental protection industry Industrial waste gas, garbage and sewage treatment equipment need to be made of stainless steel plates. In the process of flue gas desulfurization, in order to resist the corrosion of sulfur dioxide, chloride ions and iron ions, duplex stainless steel plates and high-grade austenitic stainless steel plates are required in absorption towers, coolers, pumps, valves, flues, etc. High-performance stainless steel plates are required for garbage incinerators, wastewater treatment facilities, etc.
  2. Construction industry It is one of the earliest fields of stainless steel plate application. In terms of architectural decoration, stainless steel plates are currently mainly used in the exterior walls, indoor and exterior column cladding of high-rise buildings, handrails, floors, elevator sidings, doors and windows, curtain walls and other interior and exterior decorations and components. Stainless steel plates that have been surface treated, colored and plated solve the problem of fingerprints that are easy to appear after touching, which further expands the application range of stainless steel plates. 3. Automobile Industry This is the fastest growing application field of stainless steel plates. Using high-strength stainless steel plates to manufacture vehicle body structures can greatly reduce the vehicle’s own weight and enhance the strength of the vehicle body structure. Using stainless steel plates as vehicle panels and decorative parts can reduce maintenance costs. In addition, stainless steel plates are also used in automobile exhaust systems because of their advantages of resistance to chloride ion corrosion and heat resistance. Now, Japan, the United States, Sweden and other countries have used a large number of stainless steel plate vehicles. Japan began to promote it in the 1980s, and currently its stainless steel plate train vehicles have reached 60%. The car industry is the development focus of stainless steel plate applications. 4. Home appliance industry In the home appliance industry, the largest amount of stainless steel plates are used in automatic washing machine inner drums, water heater inner tanks, microwave oven inner and outer shells, and refrigerator linings, and ferritic stainless steel plates are mostly used. The proportion of stainless steel plates in household appliances in Western Europe is relatively large, and Asia generally uses less except Japan, which is close to the European level. Microwave ovens, refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, etc. produced in my country are already competitive export products in the world, and the domestic home appliance industry is a potential large market for stainless steel plate applications. 5. Water industry The problem of water being polluted during its storage and transportation has been increasingly valued by people. A large number of practices have proved that stainless steel plates are the best choice for water industry such as water preparation, storage, transportation, purification, regeneration, and seawater desalination. Its advantages are: corrosion resistance, earthquake resistance, water saving, hygiene (no rust and copper green), light weight and less maintenance, long life (can be used for 40 years), low life cycle cost, and recyclable green environmental protection materials. According to reports, at present, 76% of pipelines in Tokyo, Japan are made of stainless steel plates, and the pipeline leakage rate has dropped from the original 14.7% to the current 7.5%. After the great earthquake in Osaka, Japan, the stainless steel plate water storage tanks were intact. Recently, Japan has developed a corrugated pipe joint, which reduces the construction cost of stainless steel plate water pipelines by 20%, the total cost by 3%, and the maintenance cost by 3/4.
  3. Industrial facilities The proportion of stainless steel plates used in industrial facilities in developed countries can generally reach 15%-20%, and the current domestic application ratio is still very small. On the one hand, this is because the stainless steel plate materials are not counted for the complete set of industrial equipment introduced, and on the other hand, it is because domestic materials have not yet been adopted. In addition, the existing imported equipment has entered the maintenance period. With the improvement of the quality of domestic stainless steel plate products and the development of special grade products, the application of stainless steel plates in domestic industrial facilities will increase year by year in the future. Stainless steel plates are not only used in these six industries, but also in other industries. The emergence of stainless steel plates has brought us great convenience, but it may be because our production process is not very perfect that its application rate is not very high. However, with the development of science and technology, the use of stainless steel plates will develop better.
